When it comes to getting into the holiday spirit, Ayesha Curry is all in.

“I’m most excited about the togetherness of the holiday season,” Curry, 35, exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “The kids’ activities kind of dwindled down, and so they’re home a lot more and we’re able to lean into that through the holidays.”

Ayesha and husband Stephen Curry share four children: daughters Riley, 12, and Ryan, 9, sons Jack, 6, and Caius Chai, 7 months. The couple welcomed their youngest back in May. Ayesha notes that the pair’s newest bundle of joy is “very mild-tempered” and “sweet.”

As the Currys adjust to celebrating the holiday season as a family of six, they’re not hesitating when it comes to incorporating baby Caicus into their brood’s traditions in new ways. One particularly special thing the parents have up their sleeves is having Caicus “coo” the songs the family records each year — a new tradition they recently started.

While Ayesha loves implementing new rituals for the holiday season, she also has her tried and true family customs. Once the holidays arrive, for example, Ayesha goes full out when it comes to her decorations. While the argument over a real or artificial tree is a contentious cultural debate, Ayesha weighs in on what works best for her.

“While I’d love to have a real tree, I’m not great at taking care of that real tree,” she confesses. “I prefer the fake tree route [and] keep the lights on it every year.”

When it comes to selecting decorative lights for holidays, Ayesha doesn’t think a person should be limited to either white or colorful lights — in fact, she goes for both. One piece of advice she has is to utilize Command hooks, which she’s been doing for ages, for an optimal light setup.

“You can do both [kind of lights] and decide what you like better then take it down, put it back up,” she shares.

This holiday season, Ayesa has teamed up with Command to bring new holiday decor trends to life, which include a classic white winter wonderland, monochromatic red, colorful holiday whimsy and more. One big mistake she encourages fellow decorators to avoid is to not put holes in their walls.

“I’m just excited to partner [with Command] to shed light on how easy the products are to use,” she tells Us. “[Plus] how festive you can make this beautiful holiday season home without worrying about damaging it.”

When it comes to the family’s Christmas tree, Ayesha isn’t a fan of sticking to one specific theme or utilizing traditional tinsel.

“The tinsel reminds me of my childhood, which was fantastic but a hot mess,” she jokes. “I would rather take my command hooks and put a wreath on the wall or bring up some ornaments … you can keep the tinsel.”

Aside from the decor, Ayesha and her family also partake in a classic holiday movies watch-a-thon, which includes beloved films like Home Alone, Last Holiday and This Christmas. When it’s time to get all cozy and curl up on the couch, her family is “all about” the matching Christmas pajamas and onesies. However, you won’t catch Ayesha in an ugly holiday sweater.

“I like to look at them on social media and on other people,” she says. “But not for me.”

As for Ayesha’s go-to holiday beverage, she’s a massive fan of eggnog.

“I love it so much. It’s funny. I shouldn’t really have that much dairy, but they make a lot of dairy-free eggnog that tastes very similar,” she explains. “So even the vegans can dabble in the eggnog world and enjoy that spirit.”
