Fox Shakes Up Schedule by Swapping Rescue HI Surf With The Floor in Post Super Bowl Slot

Fox is shaking things up by giving Rescue: HI-Surf‘s time slot to The Floor after the upcoming Super Bowl.

The network announced that The Floor would be taking over for Rescue: HI-Surf after the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9. The scripted series will now be pushed to Monday, February 10, in favor of Rob Lowe’s game show, which scored the coveted post-game slot.

“Immediately following The Big Game on Sunday, February 9 is the season 3 premiere of Fox’s ultimate quiz show The Floor, hosted by Rob Lowe,” read the press release. “In the series, which ranks as the No. 1 game show for the second consecutive season, 100 contestants face-off in duels on a giant grid of squares representing their personal field of trivia expertise. The winner of each timed head-to-head trivia battle takes control of their opponent’s square, while the loser goes home. Only one player will dominate The Floor and walk away with a life-changing cash prize.”

Fox noted that Rescue: HI-Surf was “riding a wave of ratings momentum,” adding, “The John Wells lifeguard drama series Rescue: HI-Surf brings gridiron energy to Hawaii’s North Shore on Monday, Feb. 10. In this action-packed, explosive episode, Sonny (Robbie Magasiva), Em (Arielle Kebbel) and the Ocean Safety team face their most dangerous rescue yet when a literal minefield is discovered on the ocean floor, while a hugely popular influencer will do anything to capture viral content for her massive following.”

The rest of The Floor‘s third season airs Wednesdays starting on February 18, 2025, while Rescue Hi-Surf will continue to have a Monday air slot after returning on Monday, January 20. Deadline reported that there were two factors in the decision including The Floor performing stronger with the younger demographic and with families.

Rescue: HI-Surf, which premiered in September, follows the personal and professional lives of the open-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu a.k.a the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world.

In addition to Kebbel, the series stars Robbie Magasiva, Adam Demos, Kekoa Scott Kekumano, Zoe Cipres and Alex Aiono.

“I’ve played an assassin, a firefighter, a police officer, and nothing could prepare me for the amount of work it is to be a lifeguard,” Kebbel exclusively told Us Weekly at the time, before noting there are “no second chances” when it comes to filming in rough waters. “This is what [Em has] always wanted to do. She’s a true maverick. She’s not only a great lifeguard, but she’s also a great surfer and a paddler.”

The actress continued: “She is also pretty primal at times and a little rough around the edges, especially when it comes to running her mouth, but it’s also because it’s always based in a place of truth.”

Demos, 39, who plays Will Ready, also reflected on how Rescue: HI-Surf is different from every other show, adding, “It’s just more of an authentic look to the North Shore lifeguards … and how heroic these first responder lifeguards are. I think everyone’s going to be stoked.”
