Lynda Lopez proved sister Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce won’t get in the way of family as she visited Violet Affleck at Yale University over the weekend.
Lynda, 53, posted photos from the college’s New Haven, Connecticut campus on Sunday, November 3, including one of herself and Violet, 18, smiling into the camera.
“New Haven with my favorite Yalie! ,” the journalist captioned her Instagram post, which also featured photos of the East Coast’s scenic fall season.
Lynda’s visit comes after Jennifer, 55, filed for divorce from Violet’s dad Ben, 52, in August — on the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony. The estranged spouses tied the knot in front of friends and family in Georgia in August 2022 after getting married in Las Vegas one month prior.
The “On the Floor” singer filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and listed April 26, 2024 as the date of separation.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Relationship Timeline
A source exclusively told Us Weekly in September that the pair remain friendly amid their current situation. “There’s still a lot of love between them,” the insider said at the time.
The source added that their main priority has always been their children. (Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony while Affleck is dad to Violet, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.)
“When they’re together as a family and see the kids together, it reminds them of how good they are as a team and what’s important,” the source said of J.Lo and Ben.
In September, the pair were spotted enjoying lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. A second source revealed to Us that they reunited because they “thought it would be nice” to get their family back together.
“They both know they will be in each other’s lives because of the kids and are remaining friendly,” the second insider said. “But the divorce is still happening.”
In July, Jennifer was seen out and about with Violet in the Hamptons, despite whispers of her split with Ben circulating.
The duo were laughing and arm-in-arm as they shopped in the Chanel store, a source told Us Weekly at the time. While Jennifer and Violet did not purchase anything, they browsed for about 20 minutes before leaving the store together.
Celebrity Splits of 2024: Stars Who Have Called It Quits This Year
Ben recently called Jennifer “spectacular” while promoting their upcoming film Unstoppable, which he produced and his estranged wife stars in.
And during a chat with Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine in October, Jennifer spoke about how she’s focused on prioritizing herself.
“I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough, until where I am now, when I know. I’m giving myself credit. I’m telling that little girl that grew up in the Bronx, ‘You’ve done really good for yourself.’ I didn’t do that for so many years,” she told the outlet. “And now I think, with everything that’s happened in my life and in my relationships and even in my career, it’s like, give yourself a bit of comfort and love. We’ve been through a lot of things that nobody knows about, and you’ve persevered and you refuse to give up and to let it get you down.”
