Matthew McConaughey Recreates Iconic ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ Poster

Matthew McConaughey Recreates Iconic How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days PosterMatthew McConaughey and his wife Camila McConaughey.

More than two decades after How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days hit theaters, Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, recreated the rom-com’s iconic poster — with a twist.

For their alcohol brand, Pantalones Tequila, Alves, 41, wore Kate Hudson’s famous yellow gown from the film, while McConaughey, 55, wore a suit jacket and no pants. “How to Lose Your Pants in 10 Ways,” the poster read.

McConaughey and Alves also paid tribute to the 2003 rom-com by launching 10 new cocktail recipes including “Yellow Dress,” “Rom Com Rita” and “You’re So Vain” — the latter being an ode to one of the movie’s most memorable scenes.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days follows advice columnist Andie Anderson (Hudson) as she engages in some unusual research for a new article on how to drive a man away in 10 days. She ends up finding Ben Berry (McConaughey) as a test subject, who is on his own mission to prove that he can make any woman fall in love with him in, you guessed it, 10 days.

Are Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey Open to ‘How to Lose a Guy' Sequel?

McConaughey’s hilarious recreation of the film’s promotional poster comes nearly five months after Hudson shared that both she and McConaughey would be open to doing a sequel.

“I think [studios] are always thinking about that,” Hudson shared during an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in July. “All that matters [to me] would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script. I think we’re both totally open, it has just never happened.”

In April 2020, McConaughey opened up about why he thinks that the movie is still popular so many years later.

“The main thing is that the male and the female — or the two leads — have to have some chemistry,” he explained in a video shared to X. “If they don’t, it doesn’t matter how good that script is. There’s a lot of improv, there’s a lot of banter. It’s about timing, comedic timing. There’s a buoyancy that they’re built on, you have to sort of bounce from cloud to cloud. Dance between the raindrops, I used to say.”

McConaughey noted that his onscreen relationship with Hudson couldn’t have been any better.

“Kate and I had great chemistry, obviously we worked after that on other films. But we had a really good push and pull,” he added. “She had a lot of rock n’ roll and I did too, the way we would parry with each other really worked in that film.”

While he looks back fondly on his time working on How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, McConaughey also shared that the film gave him the “most mailbox money” of any movie he’s ever done.

“People watch it over and over and over … it’s that damn love fern,” he joked.
