More than a year into their relationship, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce still have some people questioning their long-term viability.
During an appearance on the “GOLF’s Subpar” podcast on Tuesday, November 12, longtime NFL cornerback Patrick Peterson was asked if he thought Swift, 34, and Kelce, 35, were “true love or a flash in the pan.”
Peterson, 34, barely hesitated, answering: “Flash in the pan.”
Cohost Drew Stoltz followed up, “Not built to last? You don’t see that?”
Why Travis and Jason Kelce Are Qualified to Give Relationship Advice
“I don’t like talking about people’s relationships, but yeah,” Peterson doubled down. “I think it’s a flash in the pan.”
Still, Peterson — who was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers in March after 13 seasons in the NFL — insisted he is rooting for the couple.
“We’ll see,” the eight-time Pro Bowler said of Swift and Kelce. “I wish them the best. I hope it’s not.”
Stoltz, 40, a former collegiate golfer at Texas Christian University, joked that Swift and Kelce’s relationship imploding might be “the only thing that could derail the Chiefs.”
The Chiefs are currently 9-0 on the season as they attempt to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
While skepticism persists, a source recently told Us Weekly that Kelce and Swift’s relationship is going strong.
“They’re spending as much time together as possible while balancing their careers and individual responsibilities — his game and her music empire, along with personal projects,” the source told Us in October.
The source added, “They’re choosing not to dwell on the noise, focusing instead on staying true to themselves and being happy,” the source explained. “They simply shrug off the stories. They see it as just another example of the press lifting someone up only to tear them down.”
Travis Kelce's Podcast Shout-Outs to Taylor Swift Are Getting More Subtle
With Swift’s “Eras Tour” wrapping up in early December, the insider further detailed how she and Kelce have been balancing their hectic schedules.
“They are both focused on their work now and just want to get through the holidays and the tour,” the source explained, “and will be figuring out their next moves after the new year.”
During time off from her tour recently, Swift has been a regular presence at Kansas City Chiefs games. The pop star attended both the Monday, November 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Sunday, November 10 game against the Denver Broncos, both at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs return to action on Sunday, November 17 when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. The game comes during a four-day break of Swift’s six tour dates in Toronto, though no official word has been made about her attending the game in Buffalo.
