Sasha Farber is clearing the air on the origin of his moniker after Jenn Tran’s ex Devin Strader threw some shade his way.
“The name Sasha is short for Alexander,” the Dancing With the Stars pro, 40, wrote via his Instagram Story on Monday, November 11. “You know who else had the same name, Alexander the Great!!! FYI .”
Farber’s explanation checks out as Ancestry gave a similar account. The genealogy database shared that the name Sasha originates from Russia and is a shortened form of Alexander. It explained that the moniker has become gender-neutral for modern-day use.
Farber’s clapback comes a few days after Strader, 28, made remarks about the dancer’s moniker on social media. On Saturday, November 10, a user replied to Strader’s Instagram post saying, “Jenn found a great guy his name is Sasha.” In response, the Bachelorette alum retorted, “That’s a girls [sic] name.”

Strader subsequently doubled down on his remarks. Another user pointed out that Sasha is a name widely used across both genders and Strader seemingly took another jab at Farber.
“Thanks LiNgLiNg. He’s literally half the man I am,” Strader replied.
Another user fired back at Strader writing, “Wow Jenn did some real charity work dating you!!,” to which he responded, “I’m a fan of helping the less fortunate as well.”
Tran, 26, met Strader during her season of The Bachelorette. While she initially gave him her final rose, viewers learned during the finale that the pair split after Strader called off their engagement over the phone.
After the public heartbreak, Tran was added to the cast of Dancing With the Stars season 33 where she was partnered up with Farber. Throughout their journey, Tran and Farber formed a friendship and showed off their chemistry in their dances. Tran gushed about how Farber was there by her side as she recovered from her heartbreak caused by Strader.
Jenn Tran’s Brother Makes Cheeky Comment About Sasha Farber Rumors
“He kept reminding me that it’s the stuff that’s not online that really matters, It’s your friends and family who know you the best that really matters,” she said in a recent interview with People, “Right after the breakup, I was going through a lot of stuff being said online and stuff being spilled out, and I had to just turn my phone off.”
Tran was eliminated from the competition during the show’s “Halloween Nightmares” episode on October 29. Despite their exit, the duo have remained close and have spent time together post-show including a recent appearance at the Wicked premiere in Los Angeles.
