Zach Bryan had a special message for his loved ones while dropping his new song “High Road.”

“After not being home for a year and a half I drove out to my mothers [SIC] gravestone in the dead of night a few days back on familiar Oklahoma roads,” the country singer, 28, wrote via his Instagram on Thursday, November 7. “And I came to realize just like in the past she never would call me again.”

While visiting the memorial, Bryan said he gave his late mother an update on all the progress he made in his life.

“I told her I quit touring because I got accepted to get my masters in Paris next year,” he continued. “I told her I was back in Oklahoma, told her about all my best friends in New York and all the nights we howled with the moon.”

Bryan also reflected on the good times he shared with his bandmates on stage and how his hard work has paid off. He also gushed about getting to spend quality time with his sister. All those moments inspired him to pen the chorus of “High Road.”

“She’s bound to come back and haunt you forever / There’s ghosts in the windows and walls / I’vе waited by the telеphone all f—n’ night / For someone that ain’t ever gonna call,” Bryan sings on the track.

Bryan confessed that he wrote the lyrics “a month or two back” after realizing he was “blessed with all these things.” He decided now was the best time to share those words with the world.

“Thank you to all the people who love me, who have truly carried the weight with me,” he penned. “Seems that all these Quiet Dreams have gotten much too heavy but I’m home now and I’ll hold you through the pain.”

The release of Bryan’s song comes hours after his ex-girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia accused the musician of emotionally abusing her during their one-year relationship. Bryan and the Barstool Sports personality, 25, split late last month. While LaPaglia previously shared she was blindsided by the breakup, she spoke more about her experience with Bryan on the “BFFs” podcast that she cohosts with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards.

Zach Bryan Shares Cryptic Instagram Post Amid Brianna Chickenfry's Claims

“The last year of my life has been the hardest year of my life, dealing with the abuse from this dude,” she alleged. “I’m still scared of him, my brain’s rewired. I’m scared to make him mad. Last week I didn’t want to talk about it because I was scared.”

LaPaglia claimed that she refused to sign an NDA which Bryan allegedly offered her money in exchange for.

“I still said f— your money. You made the women before me believe they had no other choice,” she alleged. “And to take money from you, sign their experiences away, sign what they went through away, You get to go skip off and sing your little f—ing songs on stage like you’re a good dude.”

Us Weekly contacted Bryan’s team for comment on LaPaglia’s claims but did not immediately hear back.
